Conwy Rural Partnership

About Us…

The Conwy Rural Partnership (CRP) was formed in early 2000 and arose from the first meeting of the Conwy Rural Forum. The Partnership’s role was to co-ordinate and develop initiatives that supported or benefited rural communities. An Action Programme was created in September 2000 supporting a variety of rural projects.

The Partnership has since evolved and strengthened itself to lead on the local implementation of the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 and the wider coordination of rural development activities. It has equal representation of the public, private, community and voluntary sectors with an interest in rural Conwy.

CRP is one of the 18 Local Partnerships in Wales who submitted funding applications for projects demonstrating contributions to the aims of the Rural Development Plan. CRP were successful in gaining approval for 32 projects to be implemented during the first RDP business plan phase (2008-2011). The total value of these projects were £5.4 million. The Conwy Local Action Group is responsible for delivering Axis 4 projects – Leader + activities.

The Rural Partnership is also one of the key partnerships contributing towards delivery of Conwy’s Community Strategy.

Conwy County Borough Council has lead body status along with the role of financial coordinator and management secretariat on behalf of the Partnership and Local Action Groups.  To fulfil this role, a Rural Development Plan Team was created and forms part of the Council’s Community Development Service. The Team has responsibility for co-ordinating the activities of the CRP, Local Action Groups whilst also maximising local benefit from the Rural Development Programme.
