Conwy Bauhaus Project

What is Conwy Bauhaus Project?

Conwy Bauhaus Project is designed to drive new product development and encourage the rejuvenation of small-scale manufacturing within rural County. The project aims to boost the local economy – which is currently largely reliant on the tourism sector – by broadening its product range.

While tourism accounts for a large proportion of the county’s income, work in this sector is often poorly paid and seasonal. By engaging with the private sector, Conwy Bauhaus encourages a more innovative and creative approach to using local skills and resources, encourages aspirations beyond the tourism industry, and seeks to improve Conwy’s UK, EU and global profile.

By identifying manufacturing capacity, skills and resources (as well as existing products to be built on), Conwy Bauhaus seeks to maximise and capitalize on the Conwy’s unique selling points – the things that make it different and interesting and which represent its character.

By engaging interested parties within the private sector – as well as consulting existing successful businesses and professionals like product and graphic designers, retailers and marketing experts – potential new products will be identified and support given for the development of prototypes, packaging and branding ready for the open market.

Conwy Bauhaus is currently conducting an audit of Conwy’s private sector, after which several events will be hosted to encourage private sector involvement and provide advice and guidance on new product development.
