The main objective of this project is to work within the rural areas to promote the use of the welsh language amongst the local people and people who have recently moved to the area; and to increase awareness of the rich cultural heritage of these areas. In order to do achieve this it is necessary to employ an officer who will work full time to develop and coordinate a number of projects in the rural areas.
The officer will work with community groups and community councils in the rural areas in which Menter Iaith Conwy are already established in order to develop a wide range of projects that will bring together elements from the language, cultural and industrial heritage of these areas. The projects will aim to promote local produce, especially from rural industry. Another part of the officers job will be to raise awareness of the welsh language amongst people who have recently moved to the area, and to work with individual initiatives/ organisations to encourage new comers to become part of the community, and take part in activities that will advertise welsh lessons if need be.
