Timber and Woodland added value…
Conwy Cynhaliol (Sustainable Conwy) (2011-2013) is a local scheme offering grant support for land owners and businesses operating in the timber and forestry sector to develop new ways of working and to produce new products or services.
For example, Conwy Cynhaliol could provide support for the purchase of new harvesting or processing equipment or for the development and marketing of existing products produced in rural Conwy.
Proposals should demonstrate innovation or seek to develop new products in rural Conwy, for example:
· Kiln facilities for drying timber and wood fuel
· Other processing equipment (e.g. log splitters, post peelers, wood chippers)
· Improved harvesting equipment
Grants of up to £30,000 are available to cover up to 75% of eligible costs. Larger projects may also be considered, subject to the availability of funding and the extent to which these proposals meet the wider objectives of local and national strategies including the Rural Development Plan and the Conwy Community Strategy.
Support for training is also available and those interested should contact the project officers to discuss.
Applications follow a two stage process, following initial discussion with a project officer:
1 Submission of formal Expression of Interest (EoI)

Decision on suitability taken by Conwy Rural Partnership’s
Local Axis 4 Group.
2 Submission of full application
Form provided following approval of the EoI
Approval by Local Axis 4 Group
Initial expressions of interest and full applications are assessed by the Local Axis 4 Group who evaluate the contribution of the proposals to the objectives of the Conwy Rural Development Strategy and Axis 4 of the Rural Development Plan.
